Slug Generator — Create URL Slugs from Titles — Tools Star Hub

What this tool does

Turn a title into a lowercase, hyphenated permalink. Writers naming a post use it before the address goes into a CMS. Latin accents are removed, letters such as 你好 stay, and the result is not a check that the address is unused.

How to use

  1. Type or paste a title.
  2. The slug updates as you type.
  3. Copy the slug, or clear the box.

Examples

  • A blog title

“How to Compress an Image Without Losing Quality” becomes how-to-compress-an-image-without-losing-quality.

  • Accents and other scripts

Latin accents are stripped (Café → cafe). Letters such as 你好 are kept, so the slug stays readable.

How it works

The generator trims the text, splits off combining marks after Unicode NFKD normalization, lowercases Latin letters, turns other separators into hyphens, and collapses repeats. It keeps Unicode letters and numbers instead of deleting every non-English character. The result is a practical permalink, not a guaranteed unique ID.

Limitations

Latin accents are removed, while letters such as 你好 remain. The result is a permalink shape, not proof that the address is unused. Some site builders delete non-Latin letters; this page does not.
