What is Password Generator?

A password generator builds random passwords from character sets you choose, using a cryptographic RNG.

Password Generator — Random Passwords in Your Browser — Tools Star Hub

What this tool does

Generate a password from 8 to 64 characters, using the character types you choose. Use it when a new account needs a mixed string you have not reused. The strength label estimates from length and set size, and it does not check whether a site was breached.

How to use

  1. Choose a length from 8 to 64 and the character types you want.
  2. Optionally exclude ambiguous characters such as O, 0, I, l and 1.
  3. Press Generate, then copy the password. Nothing is stored.

Examples

  • 16 mixed characters

A 16-character password that includes upper, lower, numbers and symbols has a large character space. The strength label is an estimate from length and set size.

  • Letters only

Turning off numbers and symbols shrinks the set. The generator still requires at least one selected type.

How it works

Each character is chosen with crypto.getRandomValues(), not Math.random(). The generator includes at least one character from every selected set, then fills the rest from the combined set using unbiased sampling. The strength label (Short / Moderate / Strong) is estimated from length × log2(set size). It is not a guarantee against guessing, reuse, or a leaked site.

Limitations

Length has to be a whole number from 8 to 64, and at least one character type must stay on. The strength label estimates from length and set size. It does not check reuse, phishing, or a breached site. Ambiguous characters can be left out; the rest of the symbol list is fixed.

FAQ

Is the Password Generator free?
Yes. Generating a password from 8 to 64 characters is free, and no account is required.
Are passwords saved?
No. They are not stored, logged, put in the URL, or written to localStorage. Copy the value if you need it.
Does Strong mean unhackable?
No. The meter is an estimate from length and character-set size. It does not account for reuse, phishing, or a compromised service.
How long should a password be?
Longer is stronger. Many security guides suggest at least 12 to 16 characters for important accounts, with a different password for each site.
Is it safe to use an online password generator?
This one creates the password in your browser with crypto.getRandomValues and does not send or store it. Save it in a password manager rather than in a note.
