How to Turn Hours or a Salary into Pay

By Tools Star Hub Editorial Team · Published

Regular annual pay is the hourly rate times hours per week times weeks per year. In salary mode, the hourly rate is the salary divided by that same schedule. Overtime is extra hours times the hourly rate times the multiplier, then times the weeks.

These totals are gross pay from the hours you enter. They do not subtract taxes or unpaid time off. That subtraction is the Paycheck Estimator, and only for the deductions you type.

How to convert pay

  1. Choose hourly rate or annual salary. Hourly mode starts from the rate. Salary mode starts from the yearly amount.
  2. Enter hours per week and weeks per year. Use 52 for a job paid every week. Salary mode rejects 0 weeks.
  3. Enter overtime, or leave it at 0. Use a multiplier of 1.5 for time and a half, or 1 if overtime is paid at the regular rate.
  4. Read weekly, monthly, and annual totals. Monthly pay is the annual total divided by 12.
