How to Read a Writing-Pattern Check
By Tools Star Hub Editorial Team · Published
Analyze writing counts patterns in the browser. It needs at least 40 words. Analyze with AI posts the pasted draft to this site, which sends it to Google's Gemini API and asks for a written description of those patterns. Neither button decides who wrote the text, and neither one returns a percentage.
The local report shows word count, sentence count, paragraph count, average sentence length, a sentence-variation label, and a vocabulary label. A four-word phrase is listed when it appears at least three times, up to five phrases. A short fixed list of stock phrases is named when those words are present. The result says these are writing patterns, not proof of who wrote the text, and that a detector can be wrong in both directions. Analyze with AI sends the draft only. It does not send the local counts. The draft can be up to 12,000 characters. The model is told not to call the text definitely human or definitely AI, and not to give a percentage.
How to read a writing-pattern check
- Paste a section, not a headline. A sample under 40 words is rejected.
- Press Analyze writing for the counts. Read the averages, the variation label, the vocabulary label, and any repeated phrases. The note under the counts says the patterns are not proof of authorship.
- Press Analyze with AI only when you want Gemini to describe the same draft. That button sends the pasted text, not the local counts. Clear removes the text from the page and does not call the API.
Example
A repeated four-word phrase
The sample that repeats the same small phrase in three sentences is 41 words, 3 sentences, and 1 paragraph. The average sentence is 13.7 words. Sentence variation is Varied. Vocabulary is Broad. The phrase the same small phrase appears 3 times. No stock phrase from the fixed list is present. Analyze writing does not upload that sample. Analyze with AI would send the whole sample.
FAQ
- Why is there no score?
- A percentage would look like proof. Both buttons describe patterns.
- Can a careful human draft look even?
- Yes. The page says similar patterns show up in edited human drafts and in generated drafts.
- Does Analyze with AI see a different text?
- It sees the draft you pasted, not a summary of the local counts.
- What happens to that draft?
- It is not saved on this site. On the free tier, Google may use the submitted text to improve its products.
