What this tool does

Turn common Markdown into HTML source: headings, emphasis, links, lists, code fences, and simple tables. Writers moving a README into a page use it when they need the tags, not a rendered view. Raw HTML in the Markdown is escaped, and the reverse direction is the HTML to Markdown converter.

How to use

1. Paste Markdown, or load the sample to see supported features.
2. Press Convert to produce HTML source in the output box.
3. Copy the HTML or download a .html file.
4. Do not expect a live rendered preview. Output is shown as text so it cannot run in the page.

Examples

  # Notes becomes <h1>Notes</h1>. **bold** and *italic* become strong and em. Links keep only http, https, mailto, / and # targets.

  Triple backticks wrap a pre/code block. The contents are escaped so <script> in a fence is text, not a script.
